Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi, officially opened the first section of the Cedar Road (D1027) upgrade on 4 June.
Joining him at this auspicious occasion was our own CEO, Giuseppe Plumari, along with councillors Matome Mafokwane, Christine Walters and Chris Vondo.
Steyn City contributed a third of the funding of the R96 million project, which was part of the first open tender process by Gauteng Roads and Transport.
The project’s objectives included upgrading Cedar Road North and South into a dual carriageway, as well as improving pavements between Valley and Runnymead roads.
Although Steyn City Properties was obliged to make this contribution as a developer, the company has exceeded its obligation by initiating the first public/private partnership with the Department of Roads and Transport. It will also be funding an additional third of the cost of the upgrade of major routes in this region. The upgrades have had a major impact on the greater region, improving conditions for pedestrian commuters and motorists alike.
Phase II of the Cedar Road extension will be launched during the current financial year. Steyn City will be covering a third of the cost of this project, too, and will also provide funding for the design of a new interchange accessing the N14.
Steyn City’s magnificent outdoor areas are, undoubtedly, one of the lifestyle resort’s highlights. Beautifully manicured parklands, kilometres of walking and running tracks and outdoor gyms and play-nodes culminate in an environment that’s soothing to the soul and invites families to step outside.
These lovely areas have been created by Golf Data, our primary landscaping contractor and architect. The company is responsible for landscaping construction, implementation and maintenance – and it’s not only Steyn City homeowners who are aware of its talent.
Golf Data recently received acknowledgement from the industry when the South Africa Landscapers Institute (SALI) honoured it with a number of Gold awards for its work at Steyn City, specifically for the construction of the golf course, skate park and Origin cluster home development. The company also took home the Trophy Award of Excellence (Best Landscape Construction with In-House Design) for Steyn City: Riverglen 4.
Congratulations to all members of the team, who work tirelessly to maintain the magnificent indigenous parklands, urban planting and fairways.
In the past month, the number of erven under construction in The Views has grown to 15 – and, with a total of 54 transfers completed and more plans approved, building activity is set to increase further still.
The Views’ first family took occupation earlier this month: Jason and Ashleigh Henning and their three children recently moved into their newly built home, aptly named ‘Place of Peace, and can soon expect new neighbours.
Ashleigh has embraced the Steyn City lifestyle: whether it’s walking, running or popping out for a cappuccino, she says she has little need to leave the lifestyle resort. The kids are just as happy: eldest daughter Sydney-Paige just loves the land art, while younger brother Devon spends most of his time fishing – when he’s not at the play nodes, that is.
Dad says that the security at Steyn City is fantastic, from the systems in place to the training which ensures that guards give residents and guests a friendly welcome.
The Hennings have made their home one to envy: boasting spectacular views from every angle, its contemporary design is complemented by high end French finishes. SMART HDL technology makes life that much more convenient, but it’s the alfresco cinema experience that really sets it apart.
Small wonder they feel no reason to leave their nest!
The Springboks took some time out at Steyn City’s golf course after their recent first test match against the Irish.
Clearly, a few swings on the green was just what the team needed: after losing their first test match to the Irish at Newlands, they came back in fine style, going on to win both remaining matches in the series.
Congratulations to the winners of our Facebook competition, Carol Schoobert and Moipone Zenze. Carol and Moipone both won double VIP tickets to watch the Springboks vs Ireland at Emirates Airlines Park after visiting Steyn City’s Facebooks page. Their prize included access to the VIP suite and a three-course buffet meal complemented by local drinks on the house.
