Once again, the race organisers have chosen Steyn City for a section of their off-road race track for the Momentum 947 Mountain Bike Challenge on 8 November. This year, the route is being re-directed through our new Equestrian Centre.
Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge – Sunday, 15 November
We are delighted to once again have the Momentum 947 Cycle Challenge routed through our city on Sunday, 15 November. To mark the occasion, management will be erecting a grandstand opposite the skate park for residents and owners who wish to cheer on the cyclists. The first batch of cyclists will be coming through at around 6:30am so you are invited to take a seat from 6am onwards. Please RSVP to email@example.com for seating purposes, and while beverages will be on sale, please bring your own picnic basket. Accessibility to the site is via the Cedar Road entrance up until 6am only, thereafter through the contractors’ entrance which is accessed from William Nicol (R511) on Erven Road.
Sisters with Blisters Walk – Saturday, 21 November
We are also proud to be hosting the 10th annual 1st for Women “Sisters with Blisters” protest walk with Jacaranda FM on 21 November. Themed “Heel to Heal”, the public is invited to get out their heels, dress in their most outrageous costumes, and walk with a purpose to shine a spotlight on violence against women and children.
Steyn City has been selected as the official venue for the 5km walk that attracts close to 5,000 sisters and misters.
Funds raised by the walk will go to the charity Women & Men Against Child Abuse that provides free comprehensive medical, psychological and follow-up therapy for children who have been sexually, physically and emotionally abused. This treatment is offered at their child-friendly, one-stop Kids Clinics, and prepares abused children for court procedures to prevent secondary trauma to the child.
If you and your family would like to take part in the fun, charitable walk – please log on to www.sisterswithblisters.co.za to book your tickets for R110 per adult and R35 per child under 12 and pensioners over 60.
Our green belt area will be used for the post-event picnic and Pick ‘n Pay will be offering pre-ordered picnic hampers which can also be purchased on the Sisters with Blisters website. Bring the family for a great day out and make a difference.
Earlier this month, Steyn City launched “65 on Park” – a new cluster village. Measuring 220m², and priced from R3,9 million, these compact units are ideal for starter families, newlyweds and empty nesters alike.
Steyn City Properties CEO Giuseppe Plumari explains that the cluster homes were launched in response to market demands. “The outstanding response to our launch earlier in the year – where 50% of Phase I’s freehold stands and 90% of the 93 apartments in the Show Village were sold out – proved to us that there is an enormous need for our product: a lifestyle underpinned by pedestrianised living, where family and security come first.”
Echoing Steyn City’s sales success to date, Dr Andrew Golding, CEO of Pam Golding Properties, commented on the past month’s sales of in excess of R100 million adding, “The sales figures for September are clearly indicative of the market’s appetite for a lifestyle product of this calibre. ‘65 on Park’ opens up the possibility for a whole new market to own a piece of the most exciting new development available in this region.”
Based on extensive market research by the Steyn City Properties Management team, “65 on Park” was built to cater to young families starting out in life who don’t want the up-keep and associated running costs of a large property, as well as empty nesters who require a freestanding property on a lock-up-and-go basis.

For the fourth consecutive year, the staff of Steyn City will be “Delivering happiness to Diepsloot”. Our annual CSI project brings festive cheer to over 8,000 disadvantaged primary school children in Diepsloot. This year, we wish to extend the project to a Diepsloot high school with our “Pledge a Bag” campaign that will also support a social entrepreneur. Identifying the need for school children to stay safe on the roads and to have enough light to study at night, Thato Kgatlhanye, an enterprising 22 year old, co-founded Rethaka Trading and its innovative initiative, Repurpose Schoolbags.
Making headlines around the world, Repurpose Schoolbags are made out of recycled plastic collected from landfill sites. The bags are fitted with retro-reflective material that improves the bag’s visibility for child safety. A fitted solar panel also enables school children to use the inserted reading lamp or cell phone charger as an energy source to read and study by.
Thato employs up to 30 people from her home town of Rustenburg to produce 700 bags a month for rural communities throughout South Africa.
While Rethaka Trading’s output is currently limited, Steyn City has placed an order for a number of school bags to get the initiative going in Diepsloot. “We’re appealing to the public to help us buy the school bags, and Steyn City, together with our loyal sponsors, will do the rest by filling the bags with stationery, toys, food and sweets,” said Tammy Menton, Head of Marketing at Steyn City.
“By purchasing a school bag, you will not only light up a high school learner’s life this Christmas, but will also contribute to their academic development,” added Tammy.
Steyn City urges members of the public and residents residing in the north of Johannesburg to pledge a school bag for R110. Sponsors and SMEs who place orders of 1000 or more will have the opportunity to place their branding on the bags.

Flighted every Tuesday evening on eTV at 20h30, the series is now down to five finalists and will culminate in a finale at The Club on Wednesday, 25 November.
Contestants have taken part in a host of activities that have highlighted some of Steyn City’s world-class facilities, including skateboarding lessons at our skate park, a children’s challenge in the play area, yoga sessions in the outdoor gym, art classes with our on-site ceramist, Charles Gotthard at the new Equestrian Centre, and a sumptuous lunch at The Club’s XIX restaurant.
