Steyn City’s inaugural hosting of Jacaranda FM’s annual Sisters With Blisters, a protest walk focusing on woman abuse, on Saturday 21 November proved a massive success, attracting 5 000 participants.
Women, men, children and pets alike donned outrageous outfits – featuring generous dollops of pink – to draw attention to their vital message: End abuse now.
The event was supported by Social Development Deputy Minister Hendrietta Bogopane-Zulu, Josina Machel, Zelda La Grange and Mrs Carolyn Steyn.
More than R400 000 was raised for the cause, with the help of Jacaranda FM’s listeners and 1st for Women Insurance.
Participants voiced their appreciation of the event’s new venue. The route through Steyn City meandered through picturesque parklands, along the river and across the fairways to the new boulevard. Watering holes were strategically positioned at various activity sites to showcase the secure and active lifestyle that make Steyn City a family haven.
